These 5 items were extremely helpful in making my pregnancy more comfortable. Most of these products I used regularly and highly recommend them if your expecting. Below you will find my TikTok video. Vamos!
1. Body Brush
Helps you reach your legs and back as your belly gets bigger.
This brush will come in handy when it get difficult to bend or reach your back. What’s great about this brush is that it has soft bristles and harder/stiffer bristles on the other side (which are great for exfoliating). I suggest using this brush during your shower and using the hard bristle side to exfoliate during your shower or on dry skin as a dry brush.
2. Belly Oil
Prevents itchiness and stretch marks.
As you get further along in your pregnancy, your belly will grow to accommodate a growing baby. When your belly grows it can cause itchiness because of your skin stretching. This itchiness can be uncomfortable and can lead to constant scratching. In order to mitigate the itchiness applying oil frequently will help! Also this oil helps prevent the formation of stretch marks. I recommend applying this oil after showering and periodically during the day.
3. Leg Cream
Perfect if you experience restless legs during the night.
Restless legs feel like a tingling sensation running down your legs that generally don’t subside until you move around or massage your legs. When trying to go to sleep that last thing you want is your legs to keep you from sleeping! I recommend applying this lotion after a nice shower and before going to sleep.
4. Compression Socks
Improve circulation and reduce swelling.
Swelling in your legs and feet during pregnancy is common, however, it can be quite uncomfortable. Compression socks will reduce the swelling and help your circulation. I would suggest wearing these socks for 3-8 hour periods (either the day or night). It’s more challenging to wear these socks during the summer months, however, wearing them for short periods can help with the uncomfortable swelling.
5. Walking Shoes
Lots of walking is beneficial during pregnancy.
Walking is highly encourage and recommended during pregnancy. Getting a comfortable pair of shoes is a must! If you’re pregnant during the summer, you want to avoid wearing “chanclas” (sandals) or any other flat shoe because they contribute to feet and ankle pain! For the summer months and hot weather I recommend getting sandals that are Tevas (hiking/walking shoes). Make sure these sandals have adjustable straps with velcro which are chef’s kisses, especially with swollen ankles and toes! For the cooler months, I recommend getting shoes like Hokas because they have added cushion and support.
